Not everyone loves to travel. Some despise it. I, however, am fueled by it. Many people think that to love travel is to love going overseas/to a new country. While I think there is so much beauty in traveling overseas/going out of the country, a love of travel does not have to be an outlandish adventure. Simply traveling to a new place within your own state or country will open your mind to the world in a new way.
So, start small. Think of a place in your town that you have never been to and spend the day exploring your town. What can you learn from this? Are there differences in this part of town from yours? What is so different? Why is it different? What new perspective does this bring to your life? Next, move onto a new place you can travel to in your state. Ask yourself these same questions and let them drive you to new perspectives of life. There is so much to learn from each place in the world. With every new adventure, you will open up a new part of your mind.
Exploration is the key to an open mind. In our world, we have many different views of how life should be. What we need more of is balance. An understanding of all sides and a solid balance of all of them. We get so caught up in being right that we forget that our opinion is not the only one. Why do I bring this up in a post about travel? Well, traveling is one way to open up your world to those other sides. If you don’t explore other places, cultures, ideas, etc. you end up in a very closed off mindset.
All this to be said, travel. Somewhere. Anywhere. Keep an open mind and ask lots of purposeful questions. You’ll be happy that you did. In fact, you’ll be better for it.
